Yet you shouldn’t give up, for where there is God there is always the chance for salvation.

So if you are desperate to save you Christian marriage, you may want to keep a few things in mind.

Evaluate

Are you trying desperately to save your Christian marriage? The first step is to take an honest look at the problems you both face.

Have you both grown apart or lack necessary communication skills? Or maybe a more serious issue is at the core?.

While miscommunication can create challenges, infidelity, lying and abuse can all wreak much more damage and will require a great deal of work to overcome.

Always Act Together As One

Outside influences can cause any issue in a marriage to seem much worse, or even to actually become much worse.

Good friends and family members mean well and will offer their suggestions with the best of intentions, however their counsel could actually cause the situation to deteriorate between a husband and wife; remember Matthew’s advice as to what constitutes a marriage – “So they are no longer two but one flesh.” (Matthew 19:6).

If you find that the comments being made by outsiders serve only to belittle your spouse, then you should politely decline to listen, for such advice is not from God.

God’s Words to Live By

In Ephesians 5:33, the Bible states, “However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband”; this is the best path towards saving your marriage and it is based on sound reasoning.

God is all-knowing. He understands the feelings in our hearts, even if we do not always get them.

Women wish nothing more than to be loved, and men crave respect.

Please don’t misunderstand this to mean that women mustn’t show love and men do not need to be respectful to women respect.

Actively show respect

One way to show your husband you respect him is to quietly defer to his decisions.

Although it may be hard to do, this means allowing him to lead your family even if you may disagree with his decision.

If the choice he makes turns out for the worse, don’t scold him.

Stand beside him and offer your full support even in the most difficult of times, for this will demonstrate a boundless regard that will swell his heart.

Demonstrating Love

Making a woman feel loved involves much more than simply uttering the phrase “I love you” upon occasion.
It goes much deeper than that. It is written in the Bible that a man should love his wife just as Jesus loved his Church.

You should set aside things that are important to you to make more time for her.

Tell your friends that you won’t be joining them this week for boys’ night our or give up tickets to a sporting event, but find some way to show you cherish her by taking the time to be with her.
